Turning to VeriSign to Help Secure its Network
Entire
story (PDF; 165KB)
Overview
Merrill Lynch is one of the largest financial
services firms on Wall Street, and as a company with offices around
the globe, Merrill Lynch makes huge investments in technology, connecting
branch offices in small towns to bustling trading floors in the world's
financial capitols.
Key Challenges
Despite large investments in the latest network
security devices, such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems,
Merrill Lynch still could not gain a good perspective on the relative
severity of security threats. The company had good internal data for
review, but it lacked a broader view of cyber-threats and appropriate
security responses.
Solution
VeriSign offered Merrill Lynch unmatched network
security experience, a breadth of managed security service offerings,
and its unique role in running key components of the Internet Domain
Name System (DNS). Merrill Lynch brought VeriSign in to monitor and
manage its firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
Results
- With VeriSign, Merrill Lynch was able to enhance its already strong
security program with third-party experts with specific knowledge and
expertise.
- Merrill Lynch can now focus on future strategies to combat cyber-threats
and cyber-terrorism, rather than dealing with threats on an individual
basis.
